Mental Health is CRUCIAL to a person’s life & those they LOVE. In the past year, the PANDEMIC has pushed this issue to its limits. I know many people whom have & still are SUFFERING in silence. It makes me sooo SAD to hear the struggle they’re battling ALONE. This topic is COMPLEX & has many layers to it. (This is definitely a HOT topic we’ll have to talk about on CLUBHOUSE ☺️) But for the sake of my BLOG & insomnia right now as I write this @ 3:28 AM Sunday 02/21/21, let’s stick to a SOLID statement of my opinion in the PRESENT tense. 

“I tried to....” I cant even finish that DIRECT quote from someone I love. It BROKE my heart hearing that person describe the WAY they felt at that exact moment. My first reaction was Mama Bear Mode! I wanted to coddle them & tell them everything was gonna be alright. Tell them things will change.... BUT I DIDNT. Of course I expressed my LOVE for them & the reassurance that I will ALWAYs be there for them. But I didn’t wanna IGNORE the details. The THERAPIST in me needed to have them SPEAK their truth & get that heaviness OFF their load. I wanted to know- WHY it got to that point? What was the cause? WHERE did this stem from? I wanted them to have a VOICE & create a place where that same voice was RECOGNIZED & heard. There is absolutely NO sweeping feelings, trauma or abuse under the rug when I’m around. We’re going to ADDRESS it, find ways to ACCEPT it & MOVE forward. We cannot hold on to TOXIC experiences that will keep us from GROWTH. 🌱

Sadly, our culture frowns upon someone EXPRESSING their opinion or speaking their TRUTH- if it means hurting someone’s feelings or bringing shame to the family. I will NEVER understand why traditional OGs care more about what the “TONGAN” community thinks OVER their own child they CREATED & birth into this world. It boggles my mind to THINK of such disregard. The fact that people make their children feel INADEQUATE to speak up affects them mentally especially when it’s healthy to be VULNERABLE.

I highly recommend giving your children a SAFE place to open up & talk about their MENTAL health. Ask questions to pick their brain & check their character. What’s their train of thought & reaction? If MAJOR life events occur (Death, Marriage, Divorce or even a Move), ask how it made them FEEL! Include them in healthy ways to COMMUNICATE their voice & opinions. Help them find joy in FREEDOM of speech & mental health. Too often mental health is being IGNORED because nobody wants to have that conversation. I challenge you to be the CHANGE- Help make mental health a table talk SUBJECT. Let the OPEN discussions begin & if it includes some WINE please remember to pour mine to the RIM. I’m that kinda girl ☺️🍷

I can honestly say 2021 has been awesome so far. Everything is aligning with my GOALs. I’m working on a couple projects that I’ll talk more about when the TIME is right. My kids are healthy, happy & loved. Life is great & keeps getting better with all the knowledge I’m SOAKING up for free on CH. πŸ€‘πŸ“

BTW- I’m going on vacation tomorrow 😎🌴🌺
